Supporting Rescue Dogs and staff at Long Benton on our new programme

30/11/2021

Owner (Sean Brown) and Head Trainer (Lauren Allen) of Petsercise have been closely supporting Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter since early 2020, volunteering their time and expertise to support the staff and doggy-residents in their learning and development.

Lauren, Head Trainer, supports the shelter closely, and plays a vital part in the assessment, rehabilitation planning, and training of dogs during their time at the shelter. Lauren trains and mentors the shelter staff, educating them to progress their canine behaviour skills, and enabling them to better manage the dogs, and ensure rehabilitation is optimal.

Today, Sean and Lauren ran a full-day seminar with staff from the shelter, teaching them training basics, handling techniques and valuable lessons in how to manage some of their most tricky residents.

The aim of this all is to create a partnership which strives to develop ongoing education, programmes and relationships with shelter staff and with new rescue dog owners to continue the dogs’ development from the shelter into their new home and beyond.

Sean said “We are dedicated to limit, wherever possible, dogs being unsuccessfully rehomed, and we have the philosophy, facilities and expertise to make that an absolute reality with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter.”
